In the last 15 years, my installations and photography have been exhibited in both private and public Institutions worldwide. My work has been displayed at the Embassy of Italy in Washington D.C., the European Parliament in Brussels, and The Italian Cultural Institutes in London, Singapore, San Francisco, and Vienna and others.
Since October 2017 my work “Waves of Light” has been permanently installed at the Hospital San Raffaele in Milan.
My focus embraces contemporary artistic interpretations of photography, in addition to conceptual “mobile installations” created on a large scale, to interact within the existing architecture.
The conceptual aspect combines a focus on installation within its environment (according to its architecture and history) and developing an on-going dialogue with the space that surrounds it, offering new ways for the public to observe and enjoy their installation.
My latest work 'The Unexpected meets Rationalism’ was selected by the Committee of the Art Academy in Milan ‘Accademia di Brera’ and Fondazione Comacina for their international annual context. I won the art residency at A house built on Comacina Island by the famous architect Pietro Lingeri in 1939. He was a prominent member of the Italian rationalism movement. 'The Unexpected meets Rationalism’ is focused on the interaction between the existing architecture and contemporary artistic creation. It is a mobile and flexible installation made of nets.
The idea hinges upon the creation of a three-dimensional installation made of nets; it also relies on mobility, that is, on the constant physical transformation of the structure in space through the use of tension points.
The concept of moving tension points derives from the infinite ways in which the forms and drawings of nets can be transformed by vertexes and curves when nets are anchored in different points and are kept in constant tension. These points are studied in relation to the environment that surrounds them and to the way they interact with it (also leading the observer to interact with them).
In May 2019 the paper “The rational space of art. Pietro Lingeri and the Installations of Lisa Borgiani” written by the Architect Alessandro Colombo has been approved by the American Research Institute for Policy Development - publication on the International Journal of Art and Art History Vol. 7 No. 1, 2019
Since 2019 I have been working on the project What is Europe to you?, a photographic journey through the main European cities and capitals.
